Located on Sriharikota island off the coast of Andhra Pradesh, SDSC SHAR is India's primary spaceport. Its equatorial proximity gives rockets a natural velocity boost, making it one of the most strategic launch sites in the world.

India's heaviest rocket — formerly GSLV Mk III — stands 43.5 metres tall and can lift 8 tonnes to Low Earth Orbit. It's the workhorse powering India's ambitions for human spaceflight under the Gaganyaan programme.

The Second Launch Pad at SDSC SHAR is India's most advanced launch facility, supporting both PSLV and LVM3. It features a massive mobile service tower, flame trench, and water deluge system that releases thousands of litres at ignition.
